Release notes for 11.17.X

The Atlassian Jira Align team is pleased to announce Jira Align v.11.17.

Last updated October 31, 2025 to include bug fixes delivered during the week

Coming soon

Upcoming GA of beta roadmaps and removal of legacy roadmaps

Update as of version 11.17.0: We continue to target version 11.19.0, deploying on December 5, to make the new roadmaps experience the default.

We are excited to announce that the beta roadmaps experience will move to general availability (GA) status in an upcoming release. As a result, we are setting a timeline to remove the legacy roadmap page.

We plan to make new roadmaps experience the default, and remove the legacy experience in version 11.19.0, scheduled to begin deployments on December 5, or later.

Review our community announcement for details on the transition, and further planned enhancements as part of GA.

Enhanced backlog deeplinking

As part of our effort to improve Jira Align usability, we’ve enhanced backlog links (URLs) to include all selected teams (portfolios, solutions, programs, and teams), releases, the backlog view type (list view, kanban state view, etc.), and the work type (objective, theme, epic, capability, features, etc.).

These enhanced links allow you to easily share a configured backlog view with teams. In the near future, we plan to enhance the starred page functionality to include these full links.

Upcoming removal of JET app

The JET app for Jira has reached end-of-support (EOS) status as of September 17, 2025. We plan to remove access to the app sometime before December 31, 2025. We’ll provide updates on this timeline in future release notes. This removal is to support Atlassian’s EOS plan for marketplace apps built with Connect. Smartlinks supported in Slack in 11.18

Note: This feature was originally reported as part of the 11.17 release. To ensure this functionality meets our high standards for quality, its delivery has been moved to version 11.18.

With version 11.18.X, you will be able to view Jira Align smartlinks directly in your Slack channels and DMs, making it easier to share and preview work items without leaving your conversations.

To turn on this functionality, you'll need to reinstall the Jira Cloud for Slack app. See Slack’s documentation for more details.

Smartlinks in Slack will only available if your Jira Align site is connected to Atlassian Identity. If your organization has not yet established this connection, please contact Atlassian Support to enable Atlassian Identity for your Jira Align instance.

Enhancements and features

These features for 11.17 were released to environments on the continuous release track on October 10, 2025, in version 11.17.0. The features will be released to environments on the bundled release track on October 24, 2025, in version 11.17.1.

Deep linking on backlog

We’ve enhanced the backlog experience by adding deep linking, making it easier to share and revisit specific backlog views. Backlog links (URLs) now include all selected teams (portfolios, solutions, programs, and teams), releases, the backlog view type (list view, kanban state view, etc.), and the work type (objective, theme, epic, capability, features, etc.).

These enhanced links allow you to easily share a configured backlog view with teams.

Beta roadmaps: new fields, filters, and view setting

We’ve expanded the beta roadmaps experience to help you find and organize work more easily. You can now add and filter by new fields, and control how much detail appears in your roadmap view:

  • Add and filter by custom hierarchy fields, making it easier to find custom rooms and their data.

  • Add and filter by process steps to track work progress at a more granular level.

  • Add and filter by customers, giving you context on what work affects your stakeholders.

  • Add new column for notes (with editable notes directly in the roadmap).

  • Use the new Show IDs control in View settings to hide or display the numerical IDs of roadmap items, giving you more space to focus on item names.

Beta roadmaps: Color by and edit health

You can now color roadmap item bars by their status or health, making it easier to visualize progress and risks at a glance. Use the new Color by dropdown in View settings to choose how item bars display.

Select Health to color bars gray, green, amber, or red, matching the Status field found in status reports. Right-click a health-colored bar to update the item’s health directly from the roadmap. Updates made from either beta roadmaps or status reports will sync with each other.

Notes:

  • Health coloring on the beta roadmaps does not align with the legacy roadmaps health field.

  • Objectives do not support the health field or coloring.

Additionally, themes now support coloring by the Health field, expanding health tracking to more work item types.

Beta roadmaps: Group by owner

You can now group items by owner on beta roadmaps, making it easier to see who’s responsible for each work item at a glance. This enhancement helps teams quickly identify ownership and streamline collaboration when planning and tracking work.

Importing features respects permissions

As part of resolving JIRAALIGN-8459, we’ve updated the feature import functionality to respect existing team and system role permissions. Importing features is also limited to a single program. These changes bring consistency to the import experience, matching the rules and behavior of epics.

We plan to further update imports for other work items, making the experience consistent across all objects.
