OR

OR
If a business model canvas has already been created:
- Select Products in the top navigation bar and select the product for which the business model canvas has been created.
- In the top-left of the product room, select Canvas; the business model canvas page displays.
Creating a business model
The starting business model page allows for one of two actions:
- Start a New Business Model - allows you to select a name for the new model, and then opens a new blank canvas for creating the visualization. You are now ready to add your first node (category).
- Open Existing Business Model - this option is available on the top-right of the workspace; displays a list of saved/existing business models that can be selected for editing.
Adding nodes
To add nodes, follow these steps:
- Click Add Custom Card at the top-right of the workspace; a new node displays in the workspace.
- Click the node to open the Business Model Node panel.
- On the panel, enter a name for the node in the Node Title field.
- Next, in the Objective field, enter text that describes the objective of the category.
- Select a color for the node using the Node Color field.
- Click Save & Close; the updated node displays in the workspace.
- Repeat Steps 1-6 as many times as needed to add desired nodes to your business model.
- If needed, delete a node by clicking the X at the top-right corner.
To add smart blocks:
- Click Add Smart Block at the top-right of the workspace, and then select either competitors, customers, or personas to add. The competitors, customers, and personas tied to the product will display. If data changes (new personas, customers, or competitors) anywhere in Jira Align, smart blocks are dynamically updated when a business model canvas is refreshed. You cannot edit smart blocks, but you can remove them from the canvas.

Arranging nodes
Nodes can be arranged using a drag-and-drop method. Simply drag nodes horizontally or vertically to arrange them in your model. The business model automatically saves any adjustments made to the position of the nodes.
Notes: The best method to arrange nodes will be clicking the colored header of a node and dragging it to a new row or column directly adjacent to another node. When dragging the nodes adjacent to another node a light red grid will appear which can be clicked to place your node.
When complete, an example business model could look something like the example below:
Commenting on a business model
Business models are open for comments. You or a colleague can open an existing business model and add comments by typing in the Reply field in the Comments pane to the right of the workspace and hitting Enter.
